VAFA - Match Day Requirements

6 Apr 2017 by Ryan Bromilow

Good Afternoon
Now that the pre-season is done & dusted I trust all your clubs hard work is coming together as we kick off the season on Saturday for Round 1.

During the practice matches and the women’s lightning premiership held last weekend it became apparent that many clubs are not familiar with some VAFA rules.

I therefore would like to remind clubs of the following;

Match day requirements, that I ask to be passed on to all coaches & players;

· Players are not permitted to wear any jewelry on match day, taping over any jewelry is not permitted.

· All players should have short fingernails, this is for safety reasons which I am sure all clubs understand and appreciate.

· Audible Obscenity – If any player uses an Audible Obscenity they will be sent off by the field umpire for 12 minutes playing time (Recorded by the time keepers) and can be replaced by an interchange player immediately.

· During the pre-season practice matches we had a higher than usual number of players reported; please encourage your players to play within the rules of the game, which of course we all want.

· Players are only permitted to wear flesh colored bike shorts under their normal playing shorts, all other colors are not permitted.

· Only official VAFA (Field, Boundary & Goal) umpires and club appointed Field umpires can report players on match days.
